So glad to have the floor covered in popcorn explained (no, ecomodista does not normally do "explainers" since the term itself seems grammatically dubious). During the late 80's Calvin Klein began advertising on popcorn bags purchased targeting movie theatre audiences.
As a gestural acknowledgement of Klein DNA, Simons presented a collection inspired by the midwest--from cowboys (think Dodge City, KS) to prairie dresses and traditional quilting motifs. Firemen's uniforms (any uniform is alluring to Simons who is refreshingly open about his blue collar background) and gear that would serve one well as sartorial referential to American heritage. Traditional quilting motifs appeared on elbow length leather gloves in heavy leather and dresses. Pinafores also longish featured stripped textiles, historically worn over a dress as an apron, Simons morphed these into attractive attire, but not for winter surely, or even autumn.

The popcorn stitch pattern is a good place to start when thinking about winter wear. The stitch itself creates small air pockets, and is often combined with cables in Aran knitting for this very reason. Having just finished a slew of Aran beanies and watch caps, ecomodista is ready for the popcorn stitch not to be confused with moss.
