Exploring Bairro Alto and the Principe Real neighbourhood (barrio in Portuguese) in Lisboa on a Saturday morning proved perfect for people watching and browsing at the farmers market at the Praca or square on Principe Real Boulevard. Vendors of local organic produce, honey, wines and condiments offered tastings in the space devoted to the Merado Biológico do Principe Real, attracting locals and random tourists. Across the street Emaixada at Praca do Principe Real 26 inhabits a turn of the 19th century building that is as alluring as it's vendors, who stock only Portuguese products, including Ecola, beautiful knitwear. Wandering about these streets there are numerous other small boutiques with locally designed and produced knitwear-hats, pullovers, and cardigans.
